Responsabilities

Reporting to the Director and working in close collaboration with other team members, as well as various external stakeholders, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the execution and delivery of projects on time and on budget.

Project management

  • Validate the service offer and review the mandate with the service offer writer (upon assignment);
  • Organize in-house project kick-off meetings;
  • Attend design meetings with the client and other professionals involved in the project;
  • Validate customer requirements and needs. Obtain customer approval of work plan (budget, schedule and deliverables);
  • Consult and apply current codes and standards;
  • If program changes are requested and depending on the progress of the project, see if additional fees can be charged;
  • Coordinate the execution and sequencing of tasks and ensure the smooth running of the project;
  • Ensure that the company’s quality process and standards are applied, as well as compliance with applicable laws, codes and standards;
  • Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and other parties involved in the projects under his/her responsibility;
  • Ensure that the flow of information, both internally and externally, is optimal in order to move projects forward;
  • Monitoring the budget and profitability of projects under his/her responsibility;
  • Act as a resource person to support personnel assigned to projects under his/her responsibility;
  • Sign and seal engineering documents produced under your supervision;
  • Transfer of the design project to supervision (meeting with the supervisor assigned to the project, explaining the design issues, the team of professionals and the other parties involved in the project);

Design / Discipline Manager

  • Load calculation and equipment selection ;
  • Design of mechanical and electrical systems;
  • Consult and apply current codes and standards;

Site supervision

  • Check and validate shop drawings and data sheets;
  • Attend site meetings;
  • Site visit and inspection;
  • Supervise site work during occasional visits;
  • Check the quality of the work and issue statements of deficiencies;
  • Prepare daily work reports;
  • Apply current laws and standards;

Other tasks

  • Participate in the drafting of service offers and handle customer representation;
  • Participate in team meetings ;
  • Maintain work environment and participate in common tasks;
  • Carry out any other related tasks linked to his/her main responsibilities or requested by the department manager;
  • Participate in the collection of accounts for the projects under your responsibility;

Qualifications & requirements

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical) ;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) with seal ;
  • 3 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite ;
  • Knowledge of Autocad and Revit software (an asset) ;
  • Excellent written and spoken French ;
  • English is an asset, given that some business relationships require that documents produced be bilingual (e.g. federal projects), or that some customers/architects/suppliers may come from outside Quebec. In addition, certain technical documents concerning codes, specific standards and reference documents are written and available in English only.

Responsabilities

  • Check and validate shop drawings and data sheets submitted ;
  • Participate in site meetings;
  • Acting as representative of CARBONIC ;
  • Ensure proper coordination of work sites and schedules;
  • Supervise site work as required;
  • Perform the required inspections;
  • Ensure compliance of work with project plans and specifications;
  • Produce change directives and other site instructions.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager to coordinate the various changes proposed by the contractor and/or its subcontractors. In the case of a major change where CARBONIC may be entitled to additional fees, draft the appropriate request for the customer and coordinate with the Project Manager;
  • Identify each change independently in the timesheet software and follow up on billable changes with the billing manager;
  • Write and issue site visit reports, including any deficiencies to be corrected;
  • Approve payment requests for disciplines included in the mandate;
  • Apply current standards and codes. If necessary, consult mechanical and electrical managers.

Qualifications

  • DEC in building mechanics or electricity or BAC in engineering;
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the construction field;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite ;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French;
  • English is an asset, as the Site Supervisor will be required to consult documents prepared in advance by our team. Communications may also be in English if the projects are federal or if the contractors come from outside the country.
